Vitamin B12 deficiency is an issue that the providers at the Adult Down Syndrome Center often check for because it is found fairly frequently among individuals with Down syndrome. Having celiac disease may contribute to lower levels of vitamin B12. Keep your hands - and your germs - to yourself! Evidence continues to show that practicing good hand hygiene, maintaining physical distance, and wearing face masks can helpprevent the spread of COVID-19. We continue to encourage individuals with Down syndrome and their families to follow these guidelines and others shared by the CDC. Webinar on Sleep in Adolescents and Adults with Down Syndrome
Getting good sleep is an important part of being and staying healthy. Join us for a webinar on this topic on Tuesday, August 4 at 12:30pm (Central Time). The presenters will discuss the importance of sleep as well as practical steps you can take to promote good sleep. They will also discuss conditions and issues that can lead to sleep disturbances. Both medicinal and non-medicinal ways to address sleep disturbances will be described. This webinar will be presented by Brian Chicoine, MD, and Katie Frank, PhD, OTR/L, from the Adult Down Syndrome Center. The webinar is free but registration is required. Please register atthis link.

The Trisomy 21 Research Society (T21RS) is still collecting survey responses for their research study on COVID-19 in individuals with Down syndrome. Caregivers and clinicians of individuals with Down syndrome who tested positive or had signs/symptoms of COVID-19 are invited to take the survey. More information and links to the survey can be found onthis pageof the T21RS website. Scroll to the middle of the page to find the links to the survey.
Preliminary results and takeaways from the study have been sharedhere. Most of the responses came from individuals in other countries. The United States represented 17 percent of the responses.
